Biber - The Mystery Sonatas volume 1

Easy CD-DA | FLAC tracks | Covers | 176+145 Mb
Date CD: 08/24/2004 | Gaudeamus | 60'
This one is from Ockeghem (thank you SOOOO much!), he wrote:
"Vol. 1 goes in two files:
Separated flacs, covers and English boooklet. For those still unfamiliar with mirrorcreator, just follow the links. Up to eight mirrors will display at the bottom of the page after a few seconds. Use those you prefer. Links are interchangeable so you can download the first file from one given server and the second from a different one, at the same time. Mediafire allows for simultaneous, no captcha downloads. Enjoy it!"
“With the tonal sweetness of Huggett’s three violins resonating pleasingly through the many double- and multiple-stoppings and her bowing demonstrating a delicious lightness and freedom, she admirably displays her eloquent command of Biber’s sublime and richly symbolic language. Huggett’s [approach] is ravishing in its sonorities, her supporting cast adding significantly to the exotic sounds of the various scordaturas and the overall effect of her intelligent, stylish and expressive playing.” The Strad Magazine, November 2004

Dear Ockeghem, a thousand thanks for your gift! Listening all the Mysteries, from the Joyful to the Glorious ones, in such an interpretation, fills me to joy and happiness! MERCI ! MERCI !

Dear Anonymous (comment on The Mystery Sonatas vol.2), I probably must be "immune to issues of intonation" (or perhaps I've got stupid donkey's ears) but I continue to think that it's a wonderful recording. "Je persiste et signe!"

Last but not least.
Dear Toutatis. Thank you again. It's not given to anybody to gather such a passionate community about music, and you did. If I can help you, you just have to ask.

It is my pleasure, dear Bacbuc. If I'm allowed to, I'll certainly make more contributions :)

I downloaded the files from Mediafire (very fast), but when I open the zip files (7zip) I see a macosx folder with some 0k files in it, and a BIBMYST1HUG-A directory with some 0K files in it - nothing that I can play. Is this in some special format that I have not figured out?

I enjoyed vol 2 very much - hoping to figure out how to listen to Vol 1. Thank you.

There should not be any problem to pen the files... I just ripped the CD as separated FLACS and they should read... I certainly use Mac, but PCs open the zip files and you can burn the flacs or read them with different programs. And of course the cannot be zero kbs. Perhaps your Pc does not recognise the characters? Perhaps Bacbuc or others can give some information. If more people has the same problem I can reupload but probably the same thing will happen...

I met with the same problem when I tried to open the file with Winrar. I couldn't open or read any file. So I downloaded a recent version of 7zip and the 9 Flac files clearly apparead (.flac) even if they were again macosx files that I couldn't read. I supposed that problem came from winrar, but it seems you used 7zip. In any case, I can compress the files and scans directly from my PC (I don't use Mac) and reupload it, if Ockeghem agree. I don't know how solve the problem differently. Best regards.

Bacbuc: As you said, the files appear in 7 zip, but can't be read by windows when unzipped. So how do you convert them to make them useable? I will update my 7zip to see if that makes any difference.

Dear Bacbuc, of course I agree!

I have uploaded for years now, most of the time using a Mac, and never had this problem (or at least I do not recall having had it).

So, many thanks in advance if that's a good solution!

@Anonymous.
I always read flac files with VLC media player (free). Did you try with it (of course if you can see files ".flac" of about 30000 Ko with titles - ex. 1 The Joyful Mysteries_ The Annunciation (Praeludium, Aria, Variatio, Adagio) = 26 360 Ko)? When I want to engrave files on a CD, I use xrcodeII (free), in order to convert flac (or ape) into wav (with or without CUE). You can try it also. I prepare the file if you don't manage to read theses pieces. We'll find a solution... ;)
