dear dear Stradella, famously murdered in the prime of his life, yet nowadays largely forgotten in comparison to such contemporaries as Corelli and Pachelbel ........... but why? ......... his works are very often masterpieces of mozartean energy as well as expressiveness, which lend a stunning modernity to any halfway competent performance of his music .... and when Estevan Velardi is at the helm, the results are roman candles in the sky! ......... i've followed the ongoing Velardi releases thru the Bongiovanni years and his approach is masterful and memorable, so perhaps he will singlehandedly elevate Stradella to a much deserved recognition comparable to the revival of Charpentier accomplished by William Christie ........... enjoy!
